Mike, a Chicago police officer, meets his fourth-grade teacher, Molly, one day while speaking at an Overeaters Anonymous meeting, and thanks to their mutual love of pie and desire to confront it, they fall in love. They have to face their own challenges while losing weight at their respective places and by different circumstances; Molly learns to fall her slim sister and mother and Mike at his favourite diner. But once they find each other, they support each other as they try to achieve goals, whether it's weight loss or Molly quitting her teacher to pursue her dream of becoming a writer.
